Definition

Partial fraction decomposition (also known as partial fraction expansion) is an algebraic method used to reduce the degree of the numerator and/or denominator of a fractional function. The process works under the conditions that the degree of the numerator is less than the degree of the denominator.

Uses

Partial Fractions decomposition can be used to find:

  • » A simplified form of a fractional equation which can then be used in the process of integration or differentiation.
